Rotarian's of Gaylord,

District Governor Jane Millar visited our club last week.  Her message true to her beliefs in Rotary.  She feels family should always be first and the principles of Rotary through our efforts will continue to move millions to a better life.

Thursday’s program is a mystery to me, but no doubt planned to entertain each of us.

Jim Cotant was a gentle friend and Rotarian.  He was first introduced to me about thirty three years ago.  They had called me about some landscape, when they lived in Crestwood.  As a newly established business in Gaylord, I rang the door bell ready to show I was ready for any challenge.   As I remember, Jan opened the door with an affectionate smile.  I said, you must be . . . pregnant.  She was indeed very pregnant with their son Patrick.  Shortly after, I had the pleasure of meeting Jim and a thirty plus year friendship began. Jim made his mark not only in Gaylord but throughout the state of Michigan.  Anyone who had the pleasure knowing Jim was indeed blessed.

Weather dictates our lives each and of every day.  Sun shine is a ruling force.  Change is in the air and will persist for the next seven months.  Yes . . . spring is a long way off, but it’s all about the seasons of Michigan, isn't it?

Most of the crops locally have been gathered to fill the pantries and freezers.  Winter may be long but the efforts of a many will feed us for months to come.

Great news was shared by Caroline Gornick and Olivia Smith, our goal is so close.  Caroline’s pleas was heard and acted on, thanks to the last of the procrastinators.  After reviewing the items, it sure appears Rotary Auction will triumph.

Your Rotary Friend,
