Life Leadership Conference
District 6290 conducts a prestigious Life Leadership Conference each year for top student leaders. It is a powerful experience for all who attend. The Life Leadership conference is held at the Kettunen Center in Tustin, Michigan. The Conference is held on a small wooded campus designed especially for leadership training.
The agenda includes motivational and thought provoking speakers. Discussion groups explore the intellectual, ethical and emotional aspects of leadership. International students who attend lend global perspective on issues.
Each year, Gaylord Rotarian Tom Wagar, a former Life Leadership Conference attendee from "all those years ago" works with the local public and private schools to determine the best students to send to the Conference. The Rotary Club of Gaylord has sponsored 26 students over the past 6 years to this Conference.
Vocational Awareness
In May, 2005 each member of the Rotary Club of Gaylord voted for five Rotarians they would like to gain a better undestanding of their vocation. From July 2006 and continuing each month through June 2006, the top 12 Rotarians presented a program to the club to foster an awareness as to who they are, how they choose the profession they are in and how they are using their vocation as an opportunity to serve society. This program has continued in to the 2006 - 2007 Rotary year.
